Workshops are run throughout the year to provide members and non-members with new skills and ideas on a range of felting techniques and applications.  Our workshops are always very popular so please book early to secure your place using the Add to Cart option on the workshop outline page. (If you are completely challenged by the online booking system, you can use the old application form: PDF or Word file). Full payment is required 6 weeks before the workshop to secure your place.

If a workshop is full you can still put your name on the waiting list using the online booking system or by contacting the workshop co-ordinator.

Workshops for beginners are run regularly. Add yourself to our Beginners Feltmaking waitlist if you would like receive an email when bookings for the next beginners workshop open.

Workshop fees are worked out based on tutor fees, travel costs, venue hire charges and any other costs such as if the tutor is supplying some materials as part of the course fee.

Our workshops are usually held at our meeting room at I9/70 Maclaurin Crescent Chifley, ACT from 10 am–4 pm. Attendees are required to arrive 30 minutes prior to the class starting and to set up tables for the workshop.  At the completion of the day everyone is asked to help pack up the room including putting tables/chairs in the store room and making sure that the room is left clean and tidy.

Tea and coffee are provided but bring your own lunch.

A requirements list will be emailed to you after your payment has been received.

We have Wednesday Evening Felting (experienced and beginners) if you have done a beginners workshop and want to make more felt in a friendly, supportive environment.

During this one day workshop, students will be introduced to the wonderful world of dyeing with Landscape Dyes. Techniques of dyeing fibre (wool tops, silk, alpaca etc) yarns, felt and silk fabric will be explored - both microwave and pot dyeing. You will learn how to mix colours to create your own personal palette, overdye colours on silk fabric/felt and use simple resists on silk fabrics/felt.

In this one day workshop students will produce 5 or 6 samples showing different techniques to create textured, draped, interesting felts using merino wool, masking tape as a resist and the fabric of their choice. Techniques will include laying out masking tape in different patterns, comparing cutting fabric with cutting felt, cutting pre-felt rather than fully felted, easy removal of masking tape and felting techniques.
