Rachel has been creating felt for over 25 years. She enjoys the whole process of feltmaking, selecting fibres, fabrics, colours and textures and transforming these by the addition of heat, agitation and pressure into many different felt art forms. Felt is such a wonderful medium; it can be smooth or textural, thick or thin, manipulated or moulded, wall art or wearable.
Rachel was co-editor of Felt magazine for 18 months and ran a fibre dyeing business for ten years, supplying outlets in Australia, England and the USA. Rachel has exhibited with the Canberra Region Feltmakers, Spiral Gallery (Bega), Cowra and Bathurst Art Galleries and also been awarded major prizes at shows including Royal Bathurst Show, Canberra Show, Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show and Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Rachel enjoys sharing her knowledge by teaching workshops in Art Galleries, schools, TAFE, forums and to private groups throughout Australia and New Zealand. Her classes are relaxed and students are guided and encouraged to create individual pieces.
