Lis Mertens

Lis was first drawn to Feltmaking when she attended the Fashion Parade held by members of the Canberra Region Feltmakers and went on to attend many and varied workshops presented by local, interstate and international feltmakers.

Lis has participated in Group Exhibitions in Braidwood, Canberra, Melbourne and Alice Springs, for about 10 years and have been represented in galleries in Braidwood and Bungendore for about the same time. Her work was also previously available through CraftACT.  Lis have won a number of awards at the Royal Sydney and Canberra Shows, including Champion in the Professional Section in 2017. She was also the recipient of the Outstanding Country Artist Award at the Gundaroo Bush Festival Telstra Art Show and winner in the Sustainable Practice Category in 2013 and the Colour Category in 2017 at the Melbourne Scarf Festival. 


Lis have published an article, entitled Dairy of a Sustainable Feltmaker in Felt Magazine (ArtWear Publications P/L), Issue 14, December, 2015.
