Jindy by the Sea
30 Jul 2018 - 7 Aug 2018
This annual event for Canberra Region Feltmakers used to be held in Jindabyne but now happens at Tuross. Members can book in to attend for individual nights or the whole retreat. Nine days of feltmaking in a fun, informal atmosphere. This is not a formal workshop but an opportunity to share ideas, techniques and stories.
Tuross Virgin's Report
Last week I stayed at The Pines from Monday to Friday – Jindy by the Sea. After hearing about this tradition for the past seven years I now have finally done it. I think we went there primarily to make felt, be creative and learn from each other but it was that and so much more.
Wonderful warm, sunny weather was great for beach walks, walks to the Boat Shed for coffee or lunch or just sitting in the sunshine looking for seals or whales. Some small wallabies also made an appearance. There were sixteen wonderful CRF members and we produced amazing meals each evening. I was in a cooking team with Nina, Bec and Helen. If we ever stop making felt we could open a restaurant. It seems we were all very conscious of eating healthy food washed down with plenty of good wine.
I did make felt for a jacket and I did sew the vest I have been revamping after the Christine White workshop earlier this year. This year Sonia (CRF shop) brought one of the carding machines and the template machine for cutting shapes from felt batts. The carder got quite a workout and the freshly carded wool resulted in some beautiful pieces of felt made by our talented members.
Thank you to Sharyn and Robyn for organising.
