Textures and Patterns in Nature

12 October 2019 - 13 October 2019

A workshop to explore the colours, patterns and textures in the natural world that can inspire your felt work. Join Wendy on a sampling journey creating from natures palette. You will have the freedom to explore and create with Wendy and her years of experience guiding you. She will share with you creative ideas, tips and tricks using wool fabrics, threads and yarns, to create wonderful surface designs and textures. These surfaces can then have added embellishment at home, with stitch - either by machine or hand and beading. A demonstration of free machine stitching will be given. You will be encouraged to bring personal source materials such as your own photos and drawings to enhance the creative process. This workshop is designed to free and enhance your creative felt making potential.

The Art of Embossing

14 October 2019 - 14 October 2019

This class is a creative, process oriented workshop designed to develop your felt making skills in a playful, experimental manner. You will make a lovely lightweight embossed scarf and some great samples. You will learn about embossing and a multitude of techniques that extend your textural skills. We will limit the colour of the materials used in class to black and white which means more time can be spent on the processes rather than having the distraction of colour. This enhances rather than limits your learning potential. Wendy will bring embossed and laminated surface samples to inspire you in shades of grey! You will go home inspired and with a great new skill set to fire your passion and creativity. You are guaranteed a vibrant, informative learning experience and will go home with a wonderful embossed scarf or wall hanging and a hearty collection of fabulous samples.
