Up the Garden Path with Jennie Curtis - 15 April 2018
15 Apr 2018
(14 places available)
Members only event
Day 1 - 14 April and/or
Day 2 - 15 April
Participants wanting to attend both days will need to book each day separately.
A feltmaking extravaganza for CRF members, this workshop will explore making felt for display outdoors. You will be enticed up the garden path to make plant inspired giant tendrils, stems, pods and leaves in collaboration with other feltmakers of all levels. The pieces made by the group will be assembled into one or more group exhibition pieces for Rapt in Felt 2018.
Working together, we will explore use of colour and surface embellishment to recreate textures and patterns inspired by real plants and then exploring the wild side. 3D resist and multiple resists will be used to create forms inspired by seedpods and flower buds. Cords will be used to make connections and tendrils. These are just examples, participants will add their own ideas.
Canberra feltmaker Jennie Curtis will facilitate the workshop, demonstrate techniques for people needing technical ideas and co-ordinate the overall installation. Come for just one day or both days. Wool will be provided but you might like to share from your stash of lightweight fabrics, fibres and other embellishments.
Experience: all levels catered for but it would be helpful to have made felt before.
